Download latest iOS jailbreak tools (Redsnow alternatives)

When it comes to jailbreaking probably Redsn0w is the most familiar name. However, those who are tracking the position of iOS jailbreak from the last couple of years would know that Redsn0w is considerably limited in new-age devices. The tool doesn’t support an untethered jailbreak post- iOS 5.1.1 and the tethered option available in iOS 6.0+ is restricted to iPhone 4 and 3GS. Thankfully, we have a lot of Redsn0w alternatives out there, which can even back the recent Apple releases like iPhone 5 and 4S.

Latest jailbreak tools

The primary purpose of any jailbreak tool is to bring the Cydia app to the Springboard of an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Choose and download the best one for your device after reading the descriptions given below.

  • Download Sn0wbreeze for iOS

Latest Sn0wbreeze downloadSn0wbreeze is a time-tested Windows only jailbreak tool for iOS, which is equally popular as the Redsn0w. When used, Sn0wbreeze generates a custom, jailbreak-injected IPSW file for a given iOS input, and a user can restore it via iTunes to their device to get it a jailbroken status. Sn0wbreeze also includes a module called iFaith which enables saving and restoring an iPhone’s SHSH blobs for a particular iOS version. Having the SHSH Blobs in hand is a prerequisite if someone wants to downgrade their iPhone to a jailbreak supported iOS variant.

The latest version of Sn0wbreeze supports iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 4. Unlike Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze provides an untethered jailbreak on all above-mentioned devices running iOS 6 up-to 6.1.2, and a tethered jailbreak on 6.1.3. Sn0wbreeze is widely recommended over Redsn0w on iOS 6 for obvious reasons.

Evasi0n/Snowbreeze/Redsn0w which is the best for iOS 6 jailbreak?

These three software are cable of doing iOS 6 jailbreak in some form, but which one should I choose? Well, that depends on your iPhone model, iOS version, Desktop platform, and the requirement.

1.  Download Evasi0n if yours is an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, 4, 3GS, iPad 2, 3, 4 , iPad mini, iPod Touch 4th or 5th gen running iOS 6 up-to 6.1.2 and the requirement is just a jailbreak. The iOS 6.1.3 is a marginal update and there is no point in upgrading to it.

2. Download Sn0wbreeze if you need untethered (6.0-6.1.2)/tethered(6.1.3) jailbreak while preserving the unlockable iPhone 4 or 3GS baseband. The Sn0wbreeze is also a good option if you want to downgrade from iOS 6.1.3 to a lower build, provided the necessary SHSH blobs are saved.

3. Download Redsn0w if you’re using a Mac and if your requirement is to activate and iPhone 4, 3GS on iOS 6.1.3.

No one expects more jailbreak launches for iOS 6 as Apple started testing the iOS 7. The hackers would probably release Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze for iOS 7 running on iPhone 4 and 3GS soon after it is available for public. We may have to wait a bit longer, most likely until 2014 for an iOS seven7 untethered jailbreak.
